[PLUG] Microphone recording

I installed rezound on my RH 9 system and though my sound card works
fine for playback, and I can here my voice through the mic into the
soundcard, I can't get anything to record. I've never tried to record
anything using the mic before now. What do I look for?

I have this error at this command;

]# ls -l /dev/sndstat
crw-------    1 root     root      14,   6 Jan 30  2003 /dev/sndstat

]# cat /dev/sndstat
cat: /dev/sndstat: No such device
