I've had better luck removing the default dhcpcd and installing
"pump" instead.  This allows me to create a file "/etc/pump.conf" with a
line:

domainsearch "domain1.com domain2.com domain3.com"

And that will be your DNS search path in the /etc/resolv.conf that pump
creates.
