[PLUG] Session manager in Slackware-9.0

  I had my fiancee's laptop running kdm with Slackware-9.0. When I installed
the distribution, I _thought_ I had installed both Gnome and KDE because I
didn't know whether either gdm or kdm supported user shutdown. It turns out
that kdm does (I don't know about gdm).

  Anyway, a security patch for gdm came out and I installed that today. Then
I shut down the laptop. When I tried to boot it again, it stopped when it
could not find libatk-1.so.0. Found that library on my RH 7.3 box and copied
it over via sneakernet. Now the laptop wants a gnome-2 library that I do not
have and the only references google returned are for Red Hat packages.

  Where do I find the session manager specified? I wonder if -- in single
user mode -- I can disable the attempt to find the Gnome stuff and have it
go back to booting into runlevel 4 with kdm as the session manager. As a
non-professional SysAdmin, I cannot recall where that's specified and I
cannot find it in /etc.
