[PLUG] Does removing cyrus-sasl break evolution?

On Redhat 7.3 server I want to remove openldap and cyrus sasl since I
don't use them, but libuser and evolution apparently depend on these.
Can I ignore this dependency safely?  Is there an easy way to tell if 
an rpm dependency is for certain functionality that isn't desired 
verses something a package won't function without at all?
