Cool - I didn't actually check those, though.  I treat my Gentoo
differently than most folks... I pretty much just use Linux, and Gentoo
is the distro on this because it makes it easier to quickly compile lots
of stuff....

Do you know how they got it so the mod utilities work on both kernel
versions?

I've never actually even gotten the nv driver to work on any of my
systems... an nForce board, TNT2 board, and this GeForce2 Go.  VESA
works, but nv doesn't.  So I always install the proprietary nVidia
drivers.  I haven't heard anything good about the nv driver - not in
performance, stability, or usability.  IMHO, you should go ahead and
install the nvidia-kernel and nvidia-glx packages (emerge 'em from
~x86).  Be aware you need to re-emerge the kernel package whenever you
switch from one kernel to another and it builds against whatever kernel
version you have sitting in /usr/src/linux.

Redhat ... not gonna start a distro war here, but I really don't like
Redhat...  :-)
