If the Windows box allows inbound RDP connections, then rdesktop will
do what you want.

It compiles against the OpenSSL libs, so you can get encrypted
connections over the network (again, depending on how the W2K box is
configured).

It ships with Red Hat 8.0 and 9, and I'd be highly surprised if there
weren't a .deb for it.
