Start by running "whois" and then seeing:
$ whois
usage: whois [-aAdgilmQrR6] [-c country-code | -h hostname] [-p port] name ...
and then trying
whois -h whois.ripe.net 80.191.126.26
and I believe you'll see the behavior you're expecting.
