[PLUG] Gnucash configure error

   When I try to configure the source for gnucash-1.8.9 I see this error:

Unknown library `xml'
checking for xmlNewDoc in -lxml... Unknown library `xml'
no
configure: error: Could not link sample xml program

   So I found the source for libxml2-2.6.13 and did the configure; make; make
install series. But, xmlNewDoc is not found (by 'find / -name xmlNewDoc')
and there is no library named only 'xml' in /lib, /usr/lib or
/usr/local/lib.

   Any ideas what I try next?
