Hi all,
I need help with sound and I suppose some tweaking with buffering in
order to hear and watch you tube videos. I installed ubuntu server
8.04 at the most recent clinic. I installed the Xfce desktop
environment, which came with the Firefox web browser. I followed the
help below in order to watch flash videos.

I did
~/Desktop$ sudo dpkg -i install_flash_player_10_linux.deb
from the terminal, as suggested above.
I now am able to watch videos, but not smoothly at all. I have a
broadband, i.e. Comcast, connection. Before, I was simply met with
instructions that said I had to download the latest version of flash.
I did that, as indicated above. Now, when I watch videos, they are
extremely "choppy". They are not smooth at all. There is a message
that says "Buffer Full". I did not have this sort of problem when
this machine had windows on it. How do I make my videos run smoothly?
Also, I don't have any sound. I have me speakers installed physically
in the same way as they were when windows was on the machine. How do
I get sound out of them. Do I have to figure out what sound card I
have, download the appropiate drivers, install them, et. al. Or is
there something simple I can do?
Please help me to get my videos in Firefox on Linux working smoothly,
and sound so I can hear them.
Thank You,
Victor Soich
