while I have nothing helpful to contribute to your actual question, it may
help to clarify one point: as far as I can interpret, you are referring to
the portable USB drive (often termed a "thumb drive") as a VOB. I am
guessing the term you're looking for is "fob." I only point this out
because VOB is something else that could be relevant to this situation, and
if that's what you're really talking about, you should make that clearer.
