The normal operation is to alternately display "Digital" and "Analog",
which it has always done.  The alternations are at most a 1 Hz rate.
The flashing is much faster, and involves a Light on/ Light off cycle.
Not knowing how these things work makes it difficult for me to guess
what may be failing, but my first guess would be a high voltage power
supply.
