Neither API shows ads.
Searching via my code for the term "oscon" doesn't result in ads.
Doing the same google search via their homepage gets me an ad for the
upcoming event, and is marked clearly as an ad. Because it's FREE.
This whole thread is about random ass changes to how search tools work.
Functionality comes and goes, and the people are dependent on the service
get shafted. These "network protocols" are defined and discontinued
according to some stupid data-driven metrics. It pisses a lot of people
off, myself included. Search engines weren't something I wanted to spend my
time on, but hey, if Google/MS/DDG are going to be asshats then that's just
giving me an opportunity.
I'll need to find a better name though. "freehuggers" isn't as funny as
when I first thought of it. Or maybe that makes it the PERFECT MEME.
