[PLUG] What files to copy before upgrade from Ubuntu 14 to 16?

In long experience with Linux Mint (tracks Ubuntu) I have only ever backed
up /home when doing maintenance.  Installed applications are another story,
you will likely need to reinstall everything you use if something goes
terribly wrong.
