Jeffrey:
I initially tried
% openvpn --auth-user-pass /home/owner/OpenVPN/tmp000.$tag
where tmp000.$tag is a 2 line file containing the username and the
userpassword as created by Proton VPN. I have an account with them and
this is what they provided in order for any internet negotiations to
work with their VPNs.
Unfortunately the openvpn command complained, and as I tried to satisfy
those complaints, my options grew more and more on the CLI command
For example I am at now
% openvpn --auth-user-pass /home/owner/OpenVPN/tmp000.$tag --dev tun0
--tls-client --pull --cipher AES-256-CBC
but the openvpn command is NOT happy with even that!
Now as regard to using the Network manager GUI.
What errors do you see when connecting? (journalctl -u NetworkManager -f)
I have not done this, thanks for this important tip.
Are you using configurations provided by a commercial VPN provider?
I have 145 VPN configurations obtained from ProtonMail.
I am attempting to build the VPN connection using the "Configure Network
Connections" tab on the Network Manager icon located in the task bar
(right hand side) which is activated by the right-hand mouse click.
I can fill out the VPN connections, but when I attempt to connect the
connection times out.
Do you want me to make an mkv video showing exactly what I am doing?
