Then that is where your data was obtained.
If you did not share any details of "the incident" with the world, but received a sudden spike in scam messages directly relate to "the incident" then that means one of the other parties involved must have shared that information and included your contact information.
Trying to isolate the leak further would be a worthwhile task. But it might end up being both time consuming and costly.
